Last November, Quezon City Academy celebrated the English Fest 2009 with its theme “Developing “English Communication through Multiple Intelligences” headed by the Bureau of English Studies with the help of Oration and Declamation club (ORADEC).
The main objective of the fest is to hone and improve English communication in the campus.  To attain this objective, English Studies bureau and ORADEC directors Madelle Geronimo and Leslie Ocampo, with Ms. Marnelli Ebreo, adviser, organized various activities and contests namely: impromptu speech, declamation, oratorical speech and speech writing contests and spelling and literary bees. There were also competitions on literary excerpts for each year-level.
The elimination round for the different contests was held at the Alvendia Hall last November 25. The qualifiers participated on the final round last November 26 for the speech writing and delivery contest, spelling bee and literary bee while the final round for the oratorical speech, declamation, and impromptu speech contests were scheduled on November 27. Both events were held at the roof deck.

The eliminations for the year-level literary excerpts competitions were held last November 20. The freshmen read the satiric comedy play “New Yorker in Tondo” by Marcelino Agana, Jr. while the sophomores interpreted the poem “Once More Fields and Gardens”. The juniors sang “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost. Lastly, the seniors performed “The Adventures of Odysseus” in a chamber theater format.
On the final competition held last November 27, I-Agap1 outdid I-Dangal in choral reading. II-Ageo defeated II-Ester on dance interpretation, III-Antimony won over III-Nickel in song interpretation and IV-Calderon bested IV-Escoda on their chamber theater presentation.
“I was overwhelmed with the participation, QCA students and teachers in the fest. I was surprised to find out that there are lots of productive students on their own way,” Ms. Ebreo stated.
